The SCRAM Bracelet

Weighing only 8 ounces, the patented SCRAM Bracelet combines innovative technology with the scientific foundation of the system—Transdermal Alcohol Testing. Strapped to the subject’s ankle and worn 24/7, the tamper-resistant, water-resistant bracelet takes only a few minutes to set up.

The SCRAM Bracelet has two separate parts:

The first part contains a sensor pack, which tests vapor as it migrates through the skin in order to measure for alcohol consumption. These tests occur on a pre-determined schedule that is customized by the monitoring agency.

The second part contains electronics for tamper detection and system control, as well as collecting, storing, and transferring data via an RF link. A tamper detection strap acts as an electronic link between the two parts and secures the bracelet to the client’s ankle.

Subjects never know when the SCRAM Bracelet is going to take a sample, and supervising agencies can set-up and modify the testing schedule based on the individual needs of each subject. Each reading is date-stamped, time-stamped, and stored in a memory chip within the SCRAM Bracelet until it is transmitted, via the SCRAM Modem, to SCRAMNET.

The SCRAM System’s Patented Tamper Protection System

SCRAM combines microprocessors and state-of-the-art sensors for alcohol analysis, including a patented tamper detection system designed to ensure that readings are accurate and from the proper subject. The anti-tamper features included in the system prevent monitored subjects from circumventing or distorting readings. Once the SCRAM Bracelet is securely in place, it cannot be removed without destroying the tamper clip or strap. In the event that the bracelet is cut or removed in the field, it records a tamper alarm.

Placing products such as plastic wrap, tape, paper, aluminum foil, or playing cards between the SCRAM Bracelet and the skin will trigger, record, and send a tamper alarm to SCRAMNET. If alcohol or a tamper is detected, the system automatically begins sampling every 30 minutes and the bracelet will also immediately begin sending a signal to the modem in order to facilitate transmission of the alerts and data as soon as the subject is within range.

SCRAM Bracelet testing is:

* Customizable—Set up testing and reporting schedules that are unique to each subject.
* Cost-effective—Testing can be done every hour or as often as 48 times per day—for the same daily fee.
* Passive—Subjects are unaware when tests are taken. They can maintain normal daily routines, including work, counseling, and family obligations—no need to travel to a testing center.
* Tamper-resistant—SCRAM's patented tamper process automatically alerts the supervising authority to any tampers and ensures readings are from the proper subject.
